For the past 7 weeks, we’ve been learning about wood properties and workshop safety; and also sketching, designing, building, sanding, and finishing. In addition to working on a variety of group projects, each of our training participants designed and built a unique table to keep.
During this time, we’ve enjoyed lunches together, prayed for needs in our community, and welcomed a number of volunteers and guests to Next Step. Some participants worked with Mel Trotter Ministries and other agencies to improve their housing situations. Others experienced restoration with relationships. Each participant developed a resume with most already receiving job offers with area employers.
The next 7-week paid training session starts Tuesday, September 7 with workshop tours, interviews and enrollment the week of August 30. If you or someone you know is experiencing barriers and would like take part, please contact David at 616-243-4477 or email davidbult@nextstep-wm.org
